What I Learned Hosting 20+ Retreats and 100+ Events (And Why It's the Foundation of How I Support You Now)
Astrology + Past Life Healing retreat in 2021
It all begins with one event you probably weren't ready for.
That's how it started for me. Not with a business plan or a polished brand. With a deep pull toward gathering people. Toward creating containers that actually meant something. Toward experiences that changed how people saw themselves.
Over the past decade, I've hosted 20+ retreats across the country and produced over 100 creative events : fundraisers, ceremonies, festivals, workshops, community gatherings, and things I still don't have a name for. Some were intimate circles of six. Some had hundreds of people moving through them.
Every single one taught me something I couldn't have learned any other way.
And honestly? That body of experience is now the foundation of everything I offer. It's why I can hold what I hold. It's why I know what I know. And it's why I support visionary women the way I do now.
Let me tell you what I actually learned.
The Origin: From Circles to Retreats to Full-Scale Production
My path into this work wasn't linear.
It started with astrology : learning the language of the stars from my grandmother in Germany when I was eight. By high school, I was writing horoscopes for the school newspaper. In my late teens and early twenties, I was teaching classes at my local witchery and leading small circles wherever I could find space.
Then came the retreats.
In my twenties, I started hosting astrology retreats around the country. I traveled. I rented cabins and lodges and Airbnbs that weren't designed to hold what we were doing. I made spreadsheets at 2am. I cried on the phone with vendors. I figured out how to lead a room while also managing a budget.
From there, the events kept growing : creative gatherings, fundraisers, seasonal ceremonies, multi-day festivals. Some were collaborations. Some were mine alone. All of them stretched me in ways I didn't expect.
And through it all, I was learning something most business programs don't teach:
How to hold space and run the backend. How to lead from my body and keep the logistics tight. How to create magic and make sure everyone gets home safe.

What 20+ Retreats Actually Taught Me
Retreats are their own animal. They're not just events with longer timelines. They ask something different of you.
Here's what I learned:
1. Logistics are love.
Your attendees don't see the vendor or teacher calls or the backup plans or the dietary accommodation spreadsheet. But they feel it. When logistics are handled with care, people can actually relax into the experience. That's the work.
2. Holding space is a skill: and it has limits.
You can't facilitate from an empty cup. I learned the hard way that my nervous system sets the ceiling for the room. If I'm dysregulated, the space feels it. Capacity isn't optional. It's the container.
3. Experience design is intuitive and strategic.
The best retreats don't just flow: they're architected. There's a rhythm. A rise and fall. Moments of activation and moments of rest. You have to feel it and plan it.
4. Safety isn't a vibe: it's a structure.
Physical safety, emotional safety, energetic safety. All of it requires systems. Clear boundaries. Communication. Contingency plans. This is especially true when you're working with trauma-aware containers.
5. Integration is everything.
What happens after the retreat matters more than what happens during. If people leave without a bridge back to their real lives, the transformation doesn't stick. I started building integration into every experience I led.
What 100+ Events Taught Me About Leadership
Ecstatic Forest Festival 2022
Events move faster. The stakes feel different. And the lessons hit quick.
Team and vendor management is relational, not transactional.
I've worked with sound engineers, caterers, land stewards, artists, speakers, volunteers, and collaborators of all kinds. The ones who come back? They're treated like partners. Not vendors.
Budgeting is a spiritual practice.
I know that sounds dramatic. But learning to hold money with clarity and care : to price things honestly, to track every expense, to build in margins for the unexpected : that's grounded leadership. It's not sexy. It's essential.
Promotion isn't performance.
I used to hate marketing my events. But I learned that promotion is just invitation. It's saying, "This exists. You might want to be here." When I stopped performing and started inviting, everything changed.
Post-event reflection is non-negotiable.
Every event I host now ends with a debrief. What worked? What didn't? What would I do differently? That loop is how I got better. That loop is how I stopped repeating the same mistakes.
Why This Matters for You
Maybe you're building a retreat for the first time.
Maybe you've hosted events before but something still feels off : like you're working too hard, burning out, or losing the soul of the thing in the logistics.
Maybe you're a visionary founder who knows how to create but struggles to systematize.
This is where I come in.
What I offer now : intuitive business consulting, OBM support, retreat and experience creation, strategic direction : all of it is built on what I learned in those rooms. On that land. Through those 100+ containers.
I'm not here to give you a formula. I'm here to help you build something that actually works : for your nervous system, your vision, and your people.
What Makes This Different
There are a lot of people teaching "how to host retreats" or "how to run events."
Here's what I bring that most don't:
Strategy + intuition, together. I can read a room and read a spreadsheet.
Nature-rooted creativity. My work is grounded in land, seasons, and cycles : not just trends.
Embodied leadership. I teach from my body, not just my brain.
Trauma-aware capacity. I understand nervous system limits and how to build containers that honor them.
Over a decade of lived experience. Not theory. Not a weekend certification. Real reps.
